Distributel CEO Matt Stein receives Top Canadian Telecom CEO Award

Recognition celebrates the entire organization’s commitment to values-driven excellence

Toronto, June 4, 2019 – Distributel Communications Limited (Distributel) announced today that CEO Matt Stein has been named the recipient of the Top Canadian Telecom CEO Award for 2019. The award recognizes leaders who display strength in the areas of communication, engagement, social responsibility, trust and respect, and innovation, while also demonstrating how they address and solve major challenges.

The award acknowledges Stein’s commitment to embodying these criteria while fostering a high-performance, values-driven corporate culture. More importantly, it celebrates the best-in-class contributions made by Distributel employees across the country.

“One of our corporate values is ‘we give our all,’ and this commitment to high performance is what the Distributel team lives by, each and every day,” he says. “I’m honoured to receive this award and celebrate the Distributel employees that made this possible.”

Distributel prides itself on its employee engagement and transparency, and as CEO, Stein has shown an ability and willingness to lead by example. From celebrating employees who live the company values, to personally welcoming all new staff, to answering any and all questions at quarterly Town Hall sessions, he works to ensure that employees feel valued and respected by the organization.

Under his leadership, Distributel has become known for its innovation within the independent telecom sector, and for the last decade, the company has led the market in providing usage-based enterprise SIP trunking platforms to Canadian businesses. More recently, the company announced a first-of-its-kind partnership to bring app-based television to retail consumers and to a network of partners.

“As a leader, I believe it’s crucial to do what is right, whether it’s for our employees, our customers or our sector,” says Stein. “This is the tone that I aim to set for our entire organization, and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to lead a team that shares and lives by this commitment. By working together, we can continue to have a positive and meaningful impact on the company and on our industry.”

In addition to leading Distributel, Stein advocates for a fair and competitive telecom marketplace and currently serves as Chair of the Canadian Network Operators Consortium (CNOC). In this role and through other industry leadership initiatives, he works in partnership with independent providers, regulators and government officials to advocate for a fair and competitive marketplace for Canadian businesses and consumers and end the digital divide between rural and urban communities when it comes to access to high-speed Internet services.
